FAQ
Questions we often get about restorations, restomods, pro touring and custom builds.
Can I have a restomod built in the Netherlands?
Yes. At CTC Customs in Loosdrecht, between Amsterdam and Utrecht, we build restomods, pro touring cars and one-of-a-kind custom builds.
Do you only work on American cars?
No. American classics and muscle cars are a big part of what we do, but we work on all kinds of cars, from a Corvette restomod to a Land Rover on steroids.
What is the difference between a restoration, a restomod and a pro touring build?
Restoration: we bring the car back to how it left the factory. Original parts, original specifications, original look.
Restomod: the car keeps its classic look, but gets modern technology underneath: a modern engine and transmission, better brakes, suspension and electrics. It looks classic and drives like today.
Pro touring: a restomod built to perform. The focus is on handling, braking and grip, with a modern suspension, big brakes and wide tires, and usually a lower stance. A car you can drive on a track day and still take on a long road trip. A pro touring build can go as far as you want. With our own CTC Customs CAN bus system, you can program practically anything: lighting, keyless entry, remote start, digital dashboards and much more.
Can you do an engine swap?
Yes. We do all kinds of engine swaps, including the wiring, cooling, exhaust and everything else needed to make it work as one complete car.
What if a part does not exist?
Then we design and make it ourselves. Many of our parts, like our own CAN bus system and custom brackets, were developed because nothing on the market was good enough.
Can I follow the progress of my build?
Yes. We are working on a personal customer account where you can follow the work on your car, with updates and photos. Every time something new is posted, you get a notification. This feature is still under construction.
How long does a build take?
That depends on many factors. How much of the build needs to be developed from scratch? And does the car need more work than expected at the start? Rust damage, for example, often only shows once the car is taken far apart and the paint and parts have been removed. On top of that, we source parts from all over the world. Shipping and customs can cause serious delays, and the parts also need to be in stock at the supplier. That is why we keep you updated throughout the build.
What does a build cost?
Every build is different, so there is no standard price. Tell us about your car and your plans, and we will make you a quote.
Can I supply my own parts?
Only when it is something special or personal. We set high quality standards for our work and want to be able to guarantee them. That becomes a lot harder when the parts are not chosen by us.
